Beaufort, South Carolina

Perfectly located between Savannah, GA, and Charleston, SC, lies Beaufort, SC, lined with oak trees, pristine coastline, and abundant history.

“Tucked into winding, historic Antebellum streets framed by natural foliage and centuries-old, moss-draped live oak trees, Beaufort is more than a hidden Lowcountry gem—it’s a transformative destination that has charmed visitors since 1512.” – BeaufortSC.org

Founded in 1711, Beaufort, SC is the second oldest city in South Carolina (behind Charleston). However, “More than 40 years before the English settled at Jamestown in Virginia, the Spanish established a town and fort on the shores of Port Royal Sound in Beaufort County.” – Santa Elena Foundation. Dr. Larry Rowland, professor emeritus of history at the University of South Carolina Beaufort says, “All of American history actually began in Beaufort, South Carolina.” The rich history throughout the town is just one of the many reasons so many people fall in love with Beaufort.
